Varsity Tennis Takes Second At Greensburg

The varsity tennis team finished in 2nd place to Ellinwood at the Greensburg Invitational on September 22. All four team entries finished in 2nd place to he Ellinwood entry in their division.
Aspen McCann (#1 singles) beat Remi Grasz of Kiowa County 6-0 and Rachel Davis of St. John 6-1, but lost to Oma Thomas of Ellinwood 1-6.
Abigail Spare and Canaan Endicott (#1 doubles) beat R. Schmidt and Torres of Kiowa County 6-2 and Reed and Smith of St. John 6-0 and lost to Shartz and Beckwith of Ellinwood 0-6.
The #2 singles player Anna Crafton beat Charity Schmidt of Kiowa County 6-2 and lost to Sara Steinman of St. John 6-7 (6-8) and to Rachel Morales of Ellinwood 2-6.
The #2 doubles team of Morgan Woodruff and Grace Golden beat McMurry and Titus of Kiowa County 6-2 and Miller and McCullough of South Barber 6-0 while losing to McLeland and Robl of Ellinwood 0-6.
Final team scores were: 1st Ellinwood - 34, 2nd Ashland - 29, 3rd St. John - 11, 4th South Barber - 8, 5th South Central - 6, and 6th Kiowa County - 5.
Also playing in the tournament as fill-ins in open spots for other teams were Faith Tonne and Maddi Guerra playing as a #1 doubles team. The girls took third place in the division by losing to Shartz and Beckwith of Ellinwood 0-6 but beating Farney and Murphy of South Barber 6-4 and Reed and Smith of St. John 7-6 (7-4).
Danny Quintana played in an open spot in the #2 singles division and took 4th place. Her losses were to Rachel Morales of Ellinwood 0-6 and Charity Schmidt of Kiowa County 3-6 and her win was against Keelie Hostetler of South Barber 6-3.
